As the fall equinox approaches, not many people are aware of why it might actually be the harbinger of bad news for this planet. I am pretty sure that a vast population of the planet is aware of the prophecies relating to the end of the world and 2012 being the year to bring it, but what the movie did not show is what concerns me the most.
To begin, I will start with the Coronary Mass Ejection (CME) or solar flare cycles that our sun goes through every 11 years. The reason why one should not overlook these CMEs is because the sun has a great potential to imbalance, even destroy earth's natural magnetic field. The last peak of the CME cycle was back in 2000-2001 and given the workings of the sun, the next peak is expected in 2012.
- In the last few weeks, you must have come across news stories of solar tsunami's headed in Earth's direction. These stories are nothing but an introduction to the current solar flare peak which is just starting. Now when Jupiter is aligned on the other end of the planet - as opposed to the direction of the sun - the solar flares travel further and faster as Jupiter's gravity pulls the flares towards it. If Earth happens to be in the way of the gravitational pull then that's all the worst, for we will be bearing the brunt of the flares.
- As in the movie 2012, the sun is constantly emitting extremely large amount of neutrinos, a particle discovered a few decades ago having the ability to pass through physical mass. It is believed that the solar flares carry with them a large amount of neutrinos - which also otherwise pass through the Earth at any given time but perhaps not in such large quantities. With the increase in the number of neutrinos passing through, it is expected that the Earth's core temperature will increase, ultimately disrupting the cycle.
- Apart from Jupiter being aligned with the sun with Earth in the middle, we have Uranus which is at just a 0.9 degrees tangent from Jupiter and Earth. Wth the combined gravitational force of the two planets, one can expect the CMEs to be much more devastating - so much so that large companies and hospitals have already started arranging for back-up power generators in the eventuality that a solar flare does in fact damage all electromagnetic devices.
- In the eventuality that the peak of the solar flare cycle coincides with the alignment of yet another planet - in fact, if another planet even comes 10 degrees close to being aligned with Jupiter, Uranus, the Earth and the sun - then the planet is going to melt faster than an ice-cube in a frying pan.
Currently, Earth's rotation around its axis has a slight wobble in it which has been increasing over time due to the melting of the polar caps. Once the polar caps melt entirely - and this too is expected to coincide with the peak of the solar flares as more of the sun's radiation enters our atmosphere and finds itself trapped inside - the wobble is going to become unmanageable and it is expected that there will be a polar shift as there is nothing left to keep the rotation in check.
To get a clearer idea, imagine spinning a half-deflated basketball on your finger with a 1 KG weight attached on opposite ends. The ball will spin as long as those two weights are there but as soon as you take the weights off, you will start to notice an increasing wobble until it finally falls.
The fall equinox in this manner is something that we need to be watchful of. It is expected that Jupiter will maintain its position for another four years and when the CME cycle peak arrives in 2012, we better hope for the best that it will not be the end of this planet.
