New York had gone a record-settling 11 straight days without a murder as of midnight, police said Friday.

The mid-winter lull broke a record set last year when the city went 10 days from February 13 to 22 without a homicide.

"No murder yesterday. That means eleven consecutive days," a police spokesman told AFP.

He said no murders have been reported in the city since February 2.

In 2014, the city had the lowest number of murders -- 328, five fewer than in 2013 -- since it began keeping comprehensive crime records in 1963.

The number of homicides peaked in 1990 at 2,248 -- six a day on average -- and then began a sharp decline in 1994 with the advent of then mayor Rudy Giuliani's policy of "zero tolerance" policing.

“… "Wow, Kryon, how long is that going to take?"

The Humans in the room control that and those listening later and reading. When you leave this room, what are you going to do? Go home, report this, rub your hands together, and wait for it to happen? It won't. For the Humans in the room and the old souls hearing and reading have got work to do, and I've told you this before. You've got work to do.

There's an alliance that you're going to have to create with one another and with another group - the young people of Earth. The youth of this earth are changing the way things work. Can you see it? You're not supposed to sit around and watch them either, because they need you, old soul.

It's time for you to align with the indigos and the concepts of the youth of the planet. Do not think for a moment that their age shows their wisdom. These two attributes are not commensurate with one another; they're not linear. These young people may be older souls than you are! Don't think that because they've got technology that you don't understand that you can't be one with them. Their technology is social networking, the very thing we are talking about, where everyone can talk to everyone. The new consciousness on the planet starts in two areas - the children and the old souls.

Conclusion

This is the message of the day. The recalibration of awareness is going to change systems, education, government and finance. Those who don't choose to be spiritual at all will still move with a new awareness, for they will be aware of something that they are not aware of now - a softer way of living.

We close with a trite statement that we've given before, but that many have stated in jest: "If women ran the world, they would never send their sons to be killed on a battlefield."

Many laugh. How trite, how simple minded. Indeed, there have been women leaders who have put wars together; they had to. They sent their sons, so that's not really a correct statement. However, it's more right than you may think, dear ones.

So now I will make the statement I have made over and over in these recalibrated channellings: "When recalibrated Humans run the world, there will come a day when they will never send their sons into the battlefield." You see, awareness will change all of that. They will eventually see the wisdom of unification, new ways to settle issues, and the intuitive attribute of putting things together instead of tearing them apart.

There will be a time when government armies will not need to be large, and weapons will not be as powerful. Slowly, government won't need them. Slowly, slower than you want, these things will happen as the old soul carries his light and looks at the masters of the planet and emulates them.

You've all heard it: There will come a time when the masters will come back to Earth, and there are many who are waiting for this. However, it has already happened! They couldn't come back until the alignment was right and now it is right. This is what you are feeling in 2012 and beyond. It's starting to happen, and they're back. But they're not back as corporeal Human Beings. They're back as the energy of recalibrating of the awareness of God.

I wouldn't say these things unless they were true. Watch for these things, dear ones. Remember where you heard them first and when some of them start to occur in your news. And when you see the earth working in this fashion, dear one, maybe you'll realize that what I have given today is real.

Be circumspect. There is no perfect timing. Humans will create all this at their own pace. Do not be in fear of the things that might follow, for I say it yet again that the old energy will show itself soon in survival mode and it won't be pretty.

In this beginning of new energy, stand tall and turn on your light. Darkness will shirk before you. That is the truth of the day.

Dutch Police may use psychics in exceptional circumstances, says minister

Justice minister Ivo Opstelten wil not ban police from using psychics to try to solve crimes, the minister said in an answer to MP’s questions.

Christenunie MP Gert-Jan Segers had asked the minister about the use of mediums following a newspaper report which said there is confusion about when they may be used and that they may complicate police procedures.

Opstelten said in his briefing the police may use special investigation techniques in exceptional cases and when the public prosecution department has given its approval.

Serious

Some crimes are so serious in their effect on the victim and family that all methods of crime solving should be considered, Opstelten, said. However conventional methods should have been exhausted before alternatives can be used.

The minister did not say how often police call in psychics to help solve crimes. The rules governing the use of mediums, hypnosis, lie detectors and drugs is covered in a special section of the police instruction manual.

UFOs in Wales: police reveal locations of sightings from past 10 years

THE TRUTH is still out there as new details emerge of the true  extent of UFO reports across Wales.

Police have released details of UFO sightings in North and West Wales over the past decade.

A total of 33 reports of strange crafts in the sky were made to North Wales and Dyfed-Powys Police services since 2002. A third of these were in 2009.

Only five of these reports were explained as human activity, such as army training exercises or night lanterns.

One man described how his car engine stopped working upon seeing a round unknown craft in the sky above Aberdyfi Estuary along the  est coast.

Another witness saw a UFO illuminated by three glowing green, triangular lights hover directly above their Colwyn Bay house last year before flying off.

The sightings show Welsh households are still looking to the skies in search of new forms of life.

But sceptics say people should think twice before claiming they have seen a real-life ET.

Former RAF electrical engineer Bill Bevan said he saw an alien aircraft on a clear night two years ago while in his back garden smoking a cigarette.

The 79-year-old said: I saw a big, white disk hovering over a tree. It  was about two thirds the size of the moon. It was a bright, shining light, and it disappeared in about four or five seconds.

I thought it must have been going up at a fair rate of knots.

Mr Bevan, of Builth Wells, Powys,  quickly called his wife to come and see it, but it was gone by the time she  got there.

He said: It left me a bit shaken, but it left me so intrigued that I have been standing outside night after night to try to see it again.

Wales UFO sightings

Bill is adamant that he saw some form of UFO.

He said: It fully convinced me that there is life out there somewhere.

I saw it, it was there and it just disappeared, and until my death I will still say I saw what I saw.

I hadnt been drinking by the way, because I dont drink.

Bill also said his late father revealed to him that he and his neighbour saw a UFO over two decades ago in the Rhondda Valley.

Bill said: He was stood with his neighbour and across the other side of the valley they say a cigar-shaped object in the sky. He had never talked about it before because he didnt think people would believe him.

Theres something out there theres no two ways about it.

Phil Hoyle, of the UFO Investigation and Research Unit, has carried out numerous investigations into  paranormal activity in Wales.

The 54-year-old said he has interviewed many reliable sources, such as army personnel, who have seen unidentified structured crafts landing and taking off.

He said: I have interviewed people from the military and many reliable  people, and quite a number have  seen structured crafts leaving the scene.

Some people have said they have touched the craft.

I could tell you for days about these cases.

There must be other life forms and they could have been visiting us for quite some time.

Mr Hoyles 12-strong team has also been investigating the new phenomena of animal mutilation through its Animal Pathology Field Unit.

The father-of-one said: South Americans have come across cattle that have been clinically killed and dissected.

What has happened is that this  has moved over towards Britain, but  the majority of the incidents that take  place over here are sheep.

Mr Hoyle, of Shrewsbury, has been investigating UFO sightings for the past  30 years and is in no doubt that we are not  alone. He said: What people have to remember  is that they say there is no evidence. We dont  pre-judge anything, and we look at information from the most incredible sources.  How can you call all these professionals delusional?

Martin Griffiths however a senior  astronomy lecturer at the University  of Glamorgan is a hardened UFO  sceptic.

Mr Griffiths says strange objects in  the sky can be explained through  natural occurrences, such as ball  lightning and man-made sky lanterns.

The 49-year-old said: If people  think they see a UFO, be a bit more  critical about it. Its probably not  somebody visiting from the planet  Zog.

Dont think automatically that  something in the sky is an alien craft.  It is probably something else.

Joe McGonagle, who has researched UFO sightings for 12 years,  is also unconvinced by the reports.

He said: There is no tangible evidence that we have been visited by  aliens. Theres lots of speculation, but no evidence.

For aliens to visit here, they would have to have a very good reason to do so.

Mr McGonagle said police forces in  Wales were fuelling the UFO speculation by not making public  when an alien encounter has been proved to be something  else.

But Mr McGonagle still believes intelligent life exists somewhere in the universe.

He said: Im convinced that the probability is very high that there is life on other planets. 

Whether that life is visiting us here on Earth however, I very much doubt.

Church sex scandal takes toll on victims' lawyers

BOSTON (AP) — Attorney Ray Boucher helped secure a record $660 million settlement from the Los Angeles Archdiocese on behalf of more than 500 people molested by priests. Five days after the settlement was announced, his wife left him.

Eric MacLeish, the hard-charging lawyer whose work for victims helped spur the resignation of Boston's Cardinal Bernard Law in 2002, later suffered a breakdown, stopped practicing law and got divorced.

And Steve Rubino, once such an observant Catholic he couldn't believe a priest would molest a child, lost his faith and eventually retired from the law.

"It moved me completely out of whatever religious context I was in — completely," he said.

The sex scandal that rocked the nation's Roman Catholic Church took a fearsome personal toll on some of the top lawyers who dared to challenge the institution.

While many of them ultimately reaped large fees for their services, the all-consuming workload, the pressure of battling the church and the stress of listening to graphic accounts of children's suffering were debilitating.

"No one can handle these cases and come out of it the same," said Sylvia Demarest, a lawyer who helped win a $119.6 million verdict against the Diocese of Dallas in 1997 and later built a national database on clergy sex abuse cases.

Demarest, now semiretired, said she grew frustrated with her inability to heal the wounds suffered by her clients. "What happens to kids when they're abused and what happens to their brains when they are abused is something that we don't know how to fix," she said.

The crisis exploded in Boston in 2002, after internal church documents released publicly showed that church leaders for decades had shuffled sexually abusive priests from parish to parish. The scandal spread across the country as thousands of lawsuits were filed by people who claimed they had been victimized.

For MacLeish, the clergy cases reawakened memories of being sexually abused as a child.

MacLeish and other lawyers won an $85 million settlement in Boston in 2003 for more than 500 victims. But in the months after the landmark settlement was announced, MacLeish began to unravel. He developed insomnia and nausea, lost 40 pounds and couldn't work.

He was rattled by the image of a 9-year-old boy who was repeatedly sodomized over nine hours by a priest. The boy buried his bloody underwear so his mother wouldn't find out.

"The idea of him going off into the woods and burying his underwear, that really got to me," MacLeish said.

MacLeish had been sexually abused by a family friend during a camping trip at 15. And he had memories of being molested at an English boarding school he attended as a boy.

"I began to realize why I had been doing this work and how much my own abuse had affected me," he said.

He said his pursuit of the church "was absolutely never about money." He added: "The wealth I received was the knowledge that I had really helped my clients and helped to change the Catholic Church."

Rubino, who retired last year after more than 20 years of representing clergy sex-abuse victims, was incredulous after a family friend came to him in 1987 and said a priest had sexually assaulted her 14-year-old son.

"I said, 'Well, that's impossible. Priests are celibate. What are you talking about?'" recalled Rubino, who grew up in a large Italian Catholic family.

Rubino, whose law office was in Margate City, N.J., spent the next 15 years becoming a canon law expert.

He traveled all over the U.S and to Ireland, Canada and Australia to represent victims and help other lawyers. Story after story of abuse left Rubino disheartened about the Catholic Church.

"I was a true believer. I said my Hail Marys, my Act of Contrition, I learned Latin, I served Mass, I believed in God," he said. "I don't do any of that now."

At the height of the scandal, Rubino was working 16- to 20-hour days and traveling constantly. His wife and three children resented it. "While I was (home), I was never there," he said. "I was a second away from the next text, the next e-mail, the next phone call from a client."

Rubino's marriage survived, but Boucher's did not. Boucher's wife left him right after the 2007 settlement in Los Angeles.

"She just said, 'Look, you're on top of the world, the press is surrounding you, I haven't accomplished what I want to accomplish in life, and I just don't feel like I can stay with you,'" Boucher said. (Boucher's ex-wife, Christine Roberts, declined to comment.)

Before that, Boucher had plowed through hundreds of cases in Los Angeles, and mostly managed to "box it up and store it away." But, at times, the enormity of the pain caused by the abuse was overwhelming.

In 2004, Boucher was editing DVDs of victims describing how they were raped or otherwise molested by a priest. He saw a pile of about 150 DVDs ready to be mailed to Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony. Each DVD cover had a picture of the victim as a child, as they were when they were assaulted.

"I was stunned. I looked at them, and I'm sure I started to cry," Boucher recalled. "I will never lose that image."

MacLeish's marriage also ended in divorce. Diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, he began seeing a psychologist. Within two months, they were sleeping together and their affair led to his divorce, MacLeish said.

MacLeish, now a professor who teaches civil rights and criminal procedure at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, said he doesn't regret the work he did, despite the toll it took on him and his family.

"There is not one case that I've heard of since 2004 where a known pedophile has been placed by the church into an organization where he would be able to do it again," he said.

Rubino, 61, now spends time with his family and works as chief executive of a sports performance training center for kids. Rubino said it is a respite from the work he used to do.

"For the hundreds of damaged young lives I represented, the kids at (the center) are at the opposite end of the spectrum," he said.

Boucher, 53, continues to represent victims.

"I can't imagine walking away from people who are suffering from the isolation of sexual abuse," he said. "I don't know how — no matter what the personal, emotional toll might be — I don't know how you walk away from that."

The Catholic Church in Germany has issued tougher guidelines on the handling of reports of sex abuse.

The revised rules insist all allegations must be reported to prosecutors in an attempt to prevent cases being covered up.

But critics say the new advice does not go far enough to tackle the issue.

The Catholic Church in Germany and other European countries has been hit by repeated accusations of abuse.

Since the start of 2010, at least 300 people have alleged sexual or physical abuse by priests across Germany, the Pope's home country.

The new code firms up existing guidelines from 2002 which were criticised as being too weak.

The old guidelines had not required cases to be reported to law enforcement agencies, and had instead only "advised" it if the allegations were "proven".

'Imprecise'

Bishop of Trier, Stephan Ackermann, said the change of emphasis would mean cases being sent to police more quickly and that no-one found guilty of abuse would be able to work with children.

"The dreadful findings and experiences of recent months have shown us that the (previous) guidelines of 2002 were imprecise in some areas," he said.

"We also want to make sure that as many victims as possible... have the courage to come forward," he added, speaking in Trier in western Germany.

The code requires each diocese to have a "commissioner" who would serve as the first point of contact for anyone reporting abuse perpetrated by a Church insider.

But Christian Weisner of the We Are Church group said he did not believed the rules were broad enough, and said he wanted Germany to have a "zero tolerance" policy towards the issue.

"Once he has been an offender, we really don't want someone like that in the diocese anymore, even working in a nursing home or a prison," Mr Weisner told AP news agency.

He added that the guidelines also did not address financial compensation for victims.

The Church has acknowledged that it has failed to adequately investigate cases of abuse, and in some cases there was a cover-up with those accused being moved to a different diocese.

Many cases relate to abuse that occurred several decades ago.

WATERBURY, Conn. (CBS/WFSB) A 64-year-old Roman Catholic priest has been arrested after an investigation into the theft of church money. He stands accused of stealing funds in order to support some very un-priestly habits.

Kevin Gray turned himself in to Waterbury Police Tuesday morning after learning of a warrant for his arrest on larceny charges, reports CBS affiliate WFSB.

The former pastor of a Waterbury church is accused of stealing $1.3 million dollars over the course of seven years, and using the money to pay for personal expenses, including hotel rooms, restaurants, clothing, and male escorts.

Cops say that Gray racked up $200,000 on various Manhattan restaurants, $100,000 on hotels, $80,000 on clothing and designer suits and $45,000 on rent and tuition for two men, says WFSB.

When questioned as to why, police say Gray told them that "he felt the church owed it to him" because he was unhappy with his church assignments.

As a result of this controversy, officials say Gray was suspended last month by the Archdiocese of Hartford and can no longer function as a priest in Connecticut or anywhere in the county.

Prior to the scandal and investigation, Gray served as the priest at Sacred Heart from Jan. 1, 2003 through April 15, 2010, reports WFSB.

At that time, he was placed on an indefinite leave of absence for medical reasons; however, the archdiocese is now looking into Gray's medical claims in order to make sure they are true.

When asked for medical records documenting his illness, Gray failed to produce any kind of evidence, saying his illness deterred him from keeping up-to-date with his records.

The investigation was launched last month after the archdiocese went to police.
