President Barack Obama "It was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead -- being my brother's and sister's keeper, treating others as they would treat me," he said.

"And I think also understanding that, you know, that Jesus Christ dying for my sins spoke to the humility we all have to have as human beings -- that we're sinful and we're flawed and we make mistakes, and that we ... achieve salvation through the grace of God." - (Sep 28, 2010.)

World to learn more about contraception

JAKARTA: The Asia Pacific Council on Contraception (APCOC), together with the National Family Planning Board (BKKBN), launched Wednesday a World Contraception Day.

The first ever contraception day aims to improve awareness about the importance of contraception, organizers said.

It would also improve education around reproduction and sexual health among productive-aged women and men.

"This is an important moment to remind us contraception (can help us) to create a happy, little family life," Head of the BKKBN Sugiri Syarief told reporters here Wednesday.

He said he hoped women in Indonesia could better plan their pregnancies with contraception.

According to 2007 data from your-life.com, there are 28 million pregnancies recorded a year in developing countries worldwide, including Indonesia, some 49 percent of which include unplanned pregnancies.

And of those unplanned pregnancies, 36 percent have ended in abortion. -- JP
